Can you believe that yesterday was the 25th anniversary of Dirty
Dancing?! Where does the time go? It feels like it was only a few
summers ago that we were all swooning over Patrick Swayze and how he
managed to move with grace yet ooze masculinity. We all wanted to be
Baby. To this day I still want to jump up and down and clap when I hear "Nobody puts Baby in the corner!"

Mini Hotdogs
I can't remember the last time I ate a hotdog. These adorable mini hotdogs that I saw here almost make me want to start. Too cute! Maybe it is because sliders are everywhere. If I see one more mini burger my head may explode. A tiny hotdog though? That's a whole other story. It feels fresh and oh so fun. I'll have to search and see if I can find vegetarian mini hotdogs.I think they would be amazing at a backyard party with plenty of beer and potato chips.

Bike Planter
I just spotted these adorable planters on Etsy and I think my dear bike needs one. You attach the planter to your bike and add your own wee plant. What a nifty idea. My bike basket is already tricked out with plastic flowers and I always gets lots of compliments, this would just knock it off the charts!

Happy Summer Solstice!
Three cheers for the official start of summer and the longest day of the year! Bring on the lazy, hazy days of picnics, midnight bike rides and swimming in lakes! Hurray for sundresses and watermelon, drinking lemonade from frosty glasses sweating with condensation. Welcome summer!

Cupcake ATM

I saw this genius invention on Oh Joy and now I want to know why Toronto doesn't have one. Every corner should have a cupcake dispensing machine shouldn't it? What do you do if you need a cupcake in the middle of the night and there are none to be found? You never know when a sugar craving will strike.

Upcycled Watering Can
It's officially gardening season! I don't have the greenest of thumbs but I do love the idea of planting a few edibles and herbs this summer. You can't get any more local than picking something out of your own garden. I am going to start with a few wee plants and see how it goes. Since I am in the gardening mood I was thrilled to see this brilliant tutorial on making a watering can from an old plastic jug. What a great way to recycle and nourish your own plants. I am feeling so inspired!

Tiny Food Art
It is probably apparent by now that I am fond of food: cooking it, eating it, thinking of fun captions about food and cooking to put on my aprons. Basically anything involving food is guaranteed to make me happy. Imagine my joy then, when I saw these remarkable tiny food sculptures by artist Shay Aaron (found here). They fit on the tip of your finger! So brilliant, so painstakingly delicate and detailed. This is obviously an artist after my own foodie heart.

Bicycle Trench

Just when I thought I couldn't love Smoking Lily any more than I already do, they create another act of love that sends me over the moon. How can I resist you Smoking Lily, how? They already had me with their Cape of Good Hope that I had to buy the last time I was in B.C. I just had to. Surely you must understand. I have been lusting after their t-shirt with the sweet ants all over it, just in time for picnic season. This latest creation, however - it is just too much. A gorgeous trench coat covered with silk screeaned bikes? Did they sneak into my brain and draw out the ultimate fantasy coat for me? Yes. Yes they did.

I Need to Learn How to Crochet

I am already a part of a knitting group where instead of actually knitting we eat, chat and watch movies. I love my fake knitting nights but maybe I need to start a real group for some serious crocheting. I saw this gorgeous garland on Etsy and I almost passed out. So sweet and dreamy and perfect! I would love to have these lovely garlands strung from every room in my house. I had better suggest doing some crocheting to the fake knitting group - stat!
Or we can just eat a lot of snacks and order some garlands on Etsy...

Macaron Day!

Okay, does it get any better than this?
1. It is officially the first day of spring.
2. It is unbelievably gorgeous outside.
3. Toronto patisseries are giving out free macarons today!!!
Today is Macaron Day Toronto and local patisseries are giving out a free yummy macaron to anyone who mentions that they are celebrating Macaron Day TO. I don't think a prettier cookie exists. I love the pastel colours and how eating a macaron makes me feel like an adorable French girl. Maybe I need to don a beret, hop on my bike (I mean bicyclette ) and stop at a few of the participating shops. (See the map of participants here)
What makes this event even more special is that 25 % of any additional macarons bought will be donated to Red Door Family Shelter. Tres bien indeed.

Ivy Bike Lock

The spring-like weather we have been enjoying this week has been heavenly, and to top it off the clocks go forward this weekend as well. Whee!! I have been riding my bike a lot this week and it has been delightful. It would be even more delightful if I had this ivy bike lock by Sono Mocci. It is perfect, like a little piece of nature wrapped around your bike as you ride through the urban jungle. I am in love.

Paper Doll Illustrations

I love these brilliant illustrations by Kyle Hilton. I saw them here and was giddy right away. Breaking Bad paper dolls?! This woman is a genius. And of course, who wouldn't want to undress Ryan Gosling?

Colourful Raindrops

It looks like it is going to be another grey day today. Yesterday involved chunks of slush falling from the sky and it is looking like another gloomy one out there. Seems like the perfect time to get inspired by Smoking Lily's colourful rainclouds and drops that they had on display in their Vancouver window this winter. I love their creativity and their clothes - they are unbearably cute. Now I am tempted to steal their lovely idea and make myself a cheery raindrop mobile to chase the clouds away. Of course, if I had the adorable Marta top covered in ants the day would be instantly brighter.

Best Book Bag Ever

This tote had me giggling right away. I dare you to not have that Sir Mix-A-Lot song going through your head all day.

Cat Make-up

I am already fearful that I am a crazy cat lady. I have a sneaking suspicion that some of my friends and family are fearful of the same thing. I already have a cat plate that I love. My friend recently talked me out of buying a cat pillow that was extremely snuggly. Now I have come across a make-up collection inspired by cats. Is it terribly wrong and crazy or is it the cutest, most brilliant thing ever? Can anyone truly resist lipstick with a cat face on it? Why would anyone want to? I am very tempted.
Maybe I could make cat shaped cookies, lay them out on my cat plate and then give myself a make-over with some lovely cat make up? Meow!

Star Projector

I don't know where I saw this but I was instantly obsessed. I want one. What could be more beautiful and romantic than gazing at a starry sky under some snugly blankets this winter? It is a must have. Obviously.

Rainbow Christmas

I am smitten with these colourful Christmas ideas I saw on you are my fave. I can never resist a pompom. I also love the non traditional use of colour. So cheery and fun!

Look Ma, No Hands!
I saw this video of no hands bike moves and I am inspired to improve my biking skills! I won't be attempting these on downtown Toronto streets any time soon. I have taken a few tumbles already this year and had the dreaded wheel in the streetcar track experience, so for now I will just enjoy the video and dream of when I can wear a floaty dress on a sunny day, ride my bike on a country path and practice my no hands cup of tea moves.

Snacking Pumpkin Kitty!
Halloween is almost here! I am not prepared with a costume, a pumpkin, decorations or anything else but what more does anyone need once they see a kitty dressed as a pumpkin making adorable grunting and noshing sounds while feasting on chicken?
