Floating Bike Photos

It may be because it feels like a beautiful day outside with a touch of crispness in the air and I am going to be indoors at the NYIGF show all day, that I have cycling on my mind. I spotted these brilliant photos of floating bikers by artist Zhao Huasen on A Cup of Jo and I love them. So clever. I wonder if my dear bike is at home missing me as much as I am missing it right now!

Invisible Bike Helmet

I saw this non-helmet bike helmet on Design Sponge and was blown away! So brilliant. A bike helmet that doesn't mess up your hair and protects you like an airbag, how genius is that? At 600 clams I may have to stick with my trusty old helmet for now but I tip my hat (and bike helmet) to the smart cookies who designed them.

Bike Planter

I just spotted these adorable planters on Etsy and I think my dear bike needs one. You attach the planter to your bike and add your own wee plant. What a nifty idea. My bike basket is already tricked out with plastic flowers and I always gets lots of compliments, this would just knock it off the charts!

Reflective Bike Vest

I am completely smitten with this reflective bike vest I found on Frolic. Safety and style with a nautical nod thrown in the mix, How can a girl go wrong? It is so cute but Iwas crushed when I could not find it on the website. Luckily, I found a D.I.Y. tutorial here. Aprons will have to wait for a while. I may have to sew up one of these adorable babies as soon as possible. Safety first!

Aluminum Can Flowers

( photo The House That Lars Built)

I just saw this D.I.Y for aluminum can flowers to trick out a bike basket. How perfect with Earth Day just around the corner! What a way to recycle, create something beautiful and snazzy up your bike all at the same time. I love it. My bike basket is presently decorated with a lovely bouquet of dollar store flowers but I may have to take it up a notch and get my crafting gears in order. Green and gorgeous.

Bicycle Trench

Just when I thought I couldn't love Smoking Lily any more than I already do, they create another act of love that sends me over the moon. How can I resist you Smoking Lily, how? They already had me with their Cape of Good Hope that I had to buy the last time I was in B.C. I just had to. Surely you must understand. I have been lusting after their t-shirt with the sweet ants all over it, just in time for picnic season. This latest creation, however - it is just too much. A gorgeous trench coat covered with silk screeaned bikes? Did they sneak into my brain and draw out the ultimate fantasy coat for me? Yes. Yes they did.

Dandy Horse Magazine

Well. I have found the perfect way to avoid setting up for the One of a Kind Spring Craft Show. The show starts tomorrow and I am in the midst of a full on frenzy. It's bad timing that I have just discovered Dandy Horse Magazine, a magazine devoted to bike culture in Toronto. Swoon! It looks like it is chock full of inspiration, info and all things bike! I am dying to feast my eyes on the two wheeled eye candy and forget all about this craft show set up, but my booth awaits.

Macaron Day!

Okay, does it get any better than this?

1. It is officially the first day of spring.
2. It is unbelievably gorgeous outside.
3. Toronto patisseries are giving out free macarons today!!!

Today is Macaron Day Toronto and local patisseries are giving out a free yummy macaron to anyone who mentions that they are celebrating Macaron Day TO. I don't think a prettier cookie exists. I love the pastel colours and how eating a macaron makes me feel like an adorable French girl. Maybe I need to don a beret, hop on my bike (I mean bicyclette ) and stop at a few of the participating shops. (See the map of participants here)

What makes this event even more special is that 25 % of any additional macarons bought will be donated to Red Door Family Shelter. Tres bien indeed.

Ivy Bike Lock

The spring-like weather we have been enjoying this week has been heavenly, and to top it off the clocks go forward this weekend as well. Whee!! I have been riding my bike a lot this week and it has been delightful. It would be even more delightful if I had this ivy bike lock by Sono Mocci. It is perfect, like a little piece of nature wrapped around your bike as you ride through the urban jungle. I am in love.

Look Ma, No Hands!

I saw this video of no hands bike moves and I am inspired to improve my biking skills! I won't be attempting these on downtown Toronto streets any time soon. I have taken a few tumbles already this year and had the dreaded wheel in the streetcar track experience, so for now I will just enjoy the video and dream of when I can wear a floaty dress on a sunny day, ride my bike on a country path and practice my no hands cup of tea moves.

Summer to Fall Dresses

I cannot believe it is September. The summer has flown by. A part of me is looking forward to crisper days but I am not ready to give up my fun, flirty summer dresses just yet. Luckily I love pairing flimsy frocks with cozy cardigans, on a bike of course!

Bike Works at Brick Works

One more reason to get excited about being at the Evergreen Brick Works on Saturday! As if the Love Local Show wasn't enough reason to venture out, it is also the grand opening of Bike Works. It is an opportunity to have your bike safety checked and enjoy a free pancake breakfast. Bikes + Pancakes = Bliss.

I love my bike. I'm a take my time, cruiser kind of cyclist. I love the freedom and the feeling of the breeze on my face. I am also super psyched that I can snag a pancake or two as well!
